This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to exclude a Microsoft Exchange Message Class from a Discovery Accelerator (DA) search.

Solution

 Perform the following steps:

Step 1:

  1. Open the Vault Administration Console (VAC) on the Enterprise Vault (EV) server and right click Directory and select Properties.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Message Classes to view all the available message classes that can be excluded in a DA search.

Examples: IPM.Activity, IPM.Appointment and IPM.Note.

Step 2:

  1. Open the DA client and navigate to the Case in which to run a search.
  2. Create a New Search from the Searches tab.
  3. Navigate to the Custom attributes section.
  4. Set the Attribute inclusion option to ALL of.
  5. In the Free form attribute section:
    1. Enter msgc into the Attribute field. 
    2. Set the Type field option to String.
    3. Set the Operator field option to Any.
    4. In the Value field, enter the message class to be excluded, preceded by the dash or minus character.  For example, -IPM.Note will exclude any standard Microsoft Exchange emails.

Notes:

  1. The default options for the above Free form attribute fields are:
    1. Attribute inclusion: All of.
    2. Attribute: has no default value.
    3. Type: String
    4. Operator: Any
    5. Value: has no default value.
  2. The Value: field can only contain 1 entry.
