Each behaviour and/or symptom has a specific cause. The match information is provided to VAS via an EV Search API call, which is then processed by VAS highlighting.
The majority of behaviours and/or symptoms were traced to nuances within the HTML code of the items that prevented the VAS highlighting from highlighting the relevant terms.
For the W3WP exception above, it was determined a safety check in the code was preventing the EV Search API call from returning the match information for very large Archives.
The issue was first discovered in DA version 14.5.2, and may be present in other versions up to any fix version(s) listed below.
There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.
Please contact your Sales representative or the Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.

Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) Surveillance (VAS) provides a view of Classification Tags applied to items in the Review Set. This view lists the Tags and the terms used in the Patterns/Conditions used by the Classification Policies and highlights these terms. A prerequisite is for EV to be configured to retrieve the Classification Policy match information for each Classified and Tagged item, as follows 1. Open the EV Vault Administrator's Console (VAC).
2. Right-click the Site | Properties | Advanced | Classification.
3. Verify the Setting Retrieve classification policy match information is On. If Off, edit to On, save the change.
4. If Transparent Policies are in use, such as Client Concerns - Communication Policy, verify the Setting Enforce sentiment analysis is On. If Off, edit to On, save the change.
5. Restart all EV services (or reboot the EV server). The match information is only retrieved for items with Classification Tags that are Indexed after enabling these Settings. To apply these Settings to existing items with Classification Tags, it will be required to Rebuild the Index Volumes for those items. Unexpected highlighting behaviour or no highlighting may be seen under certain circumstances. Examples include: - Highlight of Pattern/Condition terms not available due to the presence of special characters.
- Full Pattern/Condition terms not highlighted due to bold tags.
- Tag highlighting and Item Statistics not available when more than one distinct Condition/Pattern term present.
- The Archive(s) storing the items contain a very large number of items and/or have a large number of Index Volumes.
