Cause
The length of the fully qualified domain name is too long.
Resolution
Instead of using FQDN, use the host name of the server so that the value given for the Host Address is shorter. Click the Verify button to finish choosing roles and press Save.
Issue/Introduction
When trying to add a new server/appliance to a distributed architecture (DA) the graphical user interface (GUI) shows a red error at the top stating "<fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of server>" contains invalid character(s) this length. This prevents the server/appliance from being added to the DA.
