Enterprise Vault
Performing a fresh new install or upgrading an existing setup:
The following steps are applicable if you are installing/upgrading to 16.0 (or later) or upgrading to one of the following release updates: 14.2.4, 14.3.3, 14.4.3, 14.5.3, 15.0.3, 15.1.4, 15.2.3
- Start Installation/ Upgrade of Enterprise Vault: Mount the media kit and execute setup.exe. Perform install or upgrade, as applicable.
- What’s New: Review the features and enhancements. Click Next.
- End User Agreement: Review and accept the End User Agreement and its associate BU terms and conditions. Click Next.
- Browse License: Select the .lic file generated for the same hostname where you are installing Enterprise Vault.
- Continue with the installation/ upgrade process.
- Verify the new license: On successful installation of Enterprise Vault, open Enterprise Vault Administration Console (VAC). Right click on Directory and click on Properties.
Note: On successful application of new license file, you will see the updated start date, end date, license type and status.
Importing the .lic file in an existing setup:
Perform the following steps if your Enterprise Vault set up is already upgraded to one of the following versions: 14.2.4, 14.3.3, 14.4.3, 14.5.3, 15.0.3, 15.1.4, 15.2.3, 16.0 (or later)
- Log in: Log in to the Enterprise Vault Server as an administrator.
- Backup the old licenses: Move the old licenses from the following folders to another backup folder
- C:\ProgramData\Enterprise Vault Shared\Licenses
- <Enterprise Vault install location>\Installed Licenses
- Import the License File: Copy and paste the .lic file generated for the same hostname to Enterprise Vault install location (e.g C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault).
- Restart the Admin Service: Navigate to Services.msc and restart the Enterprise Vault Admin service.
- Verify the new license: Open Enterprise Vault Administration Console (VAC). Right click on Directory and click on Properties.
Note: On successful application of new license file, you will see the updated start date, end date, license type and status.
License Import Issues
- Error: "Invalid License File format."
- Solution: Try downloading a fresh copy from the portal.
- Error : “Failed to install License File”
- Solution: Ensure the license is generated for the correct hostname. It should be the NETBIOS name for the machine. Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), IP Address and MAC addresses are not supported.
- License status is incorrect in VAC.
- Solution: Close the Vault Admin Console and restart the Enterprise Vault Admin service on the server.
Enterprise Vault Discovery Accelerator
Performing a fresh new install or Upgrading an existing setup:

- Start Installation/ Upgrade of Enterprise Vault: Mount the media kit and execute setup.exe. Perform install or upgrade of Enterprise Vault Discovery Accelerator, as applicable.
- What’s New: Review the features and enhancements. Click Next.
- End User Agreement: Review and accept the End User Agreement and its associate BU terms and conditions. Click Next.
- Browse License: Select the .lic file generated for the same hostname where you are installing Enterprise Vault Discovery Accelerator.
- Continue with the installation/ upgrade process.
- Upload license in Discovery Accelerator:
- Login into the EVBAAdmin website and click ‘Upload License’.
- Browse for the license file located at <Enterprise Vault Business Accelerator install location> (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault Business Accelerator) and click Ok.
- Navigate to Service.msc and restart the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager service.
- Verify the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager service has started successfully.

Perform the following steps if your Enterprise Vault Discovery Accelerator server is already upgraded to one of the following versions: 14.2.3, 14.3.3, 14.4.3, 14.5.3, 15.0.3, 15.1.4, 15.2.3, 16.0 (or later)

- C:\ProgramData\Enterprise Vault Shared\Licenses
- <Enterprise Vault Discovery Accelerator install location>\Installed Licenses

- What’s New: Review the features and enhancements. Click Next.
- End User Agreement: Review and accept the End User Agreement and its associate BU terms and conditions. Click Next.
- Browse License: Select the .lic file generated for the same hostname where you are installing Enterprise Vault Surveillance.
- Continue with the installation/ upgrade process.
- Upload license in Surveillance:
- Login into EVBAadmin and click ‘Upload License’.
- Browse for the license file located at <Enterprise Vault Business Accelerator install location> (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault Business Accelerator) and click Ok.
- Navigate to Services.msc and restart the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager service.
- Verify the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager service has started successfully.
