The following errors may occur in the Event log when attempting to recall the item back to the partition.

Cause

This issue can be caused by a low Read buffer size that is used for data downloads. 

Resolution

Validate that the Read buffer size on the partition is set to a value of 20, which is the default value, or higher. This value has a range of 1 - 1024 MB.  

To view/update this value perform the following steps. 

  1. In the Enterprise Vault Admin Console (VAC) expand Vault Store Groups > Vault Store Group > Vault_Store_Name
  2. Click on Partitions
  3. Right-click the partition name and choose Properties
  4. Choose the Advanced tab and update the value for Read buffer size 
  5. Restart the Enterprise Vault Storage Service for the change to take effect 
  6. Confirm the download of the item is able to retrieve the data from secondary storage without error

Issue/Introduction

Very large items, typically several GB in size, may fail to be recalled to the partition after migrating to an S3 secondary storage device. This will cause the item to faile to be recalled to the file server during a placeholder recall.
